Religion and the Military
14th-Dec-2006 12:21 am
Not a lot to say at this point. I heard an interview tonight with a representative from the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF). I was quite shocked by what I was hearing in the interview and decided I should do a little research into the group and what this representative was saying. I'm still absorbing what it was they said, and the video they are reacting to. However, at this point I do think this issue is something that is important but that will be ignored in the long run by the media at large (no blood no interest). I don't know what is the "right" answer in this case but I would like to give you all the opportunity to look at it and educate yourselves as it WILL affect us all on some level.

You might want to look at a video they are reacting to before you see any statements from the MRFF though. You know, see what the initial impact of the video is on you through your filters. The video is here and is about 12 minutes long.

You can read about the issue the MRFF has here. I would suggest you look through their PDF files when you can.

I'm still digesting the video myself and need to read through all the MRFF's PDFs. My initial reaction though is that some people made some very bad choices in how they said things and now some people are taking those statements and blasting anyone who "dares" use their religious beliefs in how they handle their profession in the US government.

I'll contemplate and post more on the subject later. Feel free to give your opinion in the meantime though.
