Well, I spent the weekend going over all the things on my ballot. I gotta say that with the internet it's a lot easier to pick candidates than it is to decide how to vote on measures. I really wasn't expecting that to be the case. It was actually nice to for some of the candidates to make my decisions easier by putting certain content about themselves on their own websites. Oh, and I'm not talking about things that make me think, "That's a good point." I'm talking more about things that made me think, "Wow, this person is a nut job." Yes, I seriously thought that about one of the candidates for a position here in Oregon.
If you're wondering I voted all over the place as usual. I voted for Republicans, Democrats, Independents and other parties (yes, there were others). My votes on measures was also a mixed bag if I compare my choices to the "guides" I received in the mail. I think one was "conservative" and the other was "liberal".
I love not fitting the mold. =)
Still, the big thing I'm wondering is when I picked a candidate for president did I vote "for" that person or "against" the others? Was my motivation hope or fear? I'm still not sure. I have an inkling, but I think it will take a day or so for me to really reflect on what was going through my mind as I filled in that space. Plus, with all the negative campaigning going on it's tough to filter through the crap. Oh, and when I say that I don't mean I considered the BS these folks were hocking, I'm talking about their negative campaigning pissing me off. I really hoped everyone would play nice, and nobody did. Such is our country's election process though. Sad.
I guess the thing I can take comfort in though is that no matter who wins the presidency, things are going to change. Yes, I do believe that to be true.
Don't forget to vote folks. It's the only thing that will give your bitching weight later. My bitching is justified for the next four years if it comes to that (ballot was dropped off tonight). How about you?
